The DBA role includes performing data model physicalization, developing database related changes, providing reliable, recoverable and scalable databases, as well as adhering to standards and policies that are specific to database management. The DBA has shared responsiblity for maintaining security controls for databases. The DBA provides support, trouble shooting and performance tuning for all databases. The DBA assists with installs and upgrades to database server software, database utilities and tools. The DBA implements database storage structures and develops disaster recovery as well as fail over plans. The DBA develops and enforces uniform methodologies and standards regarding databases.
