EP,

You were definitely too nice. So I'll
defer to you. I could use the practice.

Oh, hell, I can't resist a little bit. All we
need is the crying and whining from hazyDBAs
to form a voting bloc. Yea, that's the ticket.

Give me the denizens of Jared/Bruce-ville anytime.

||
|| Steve,
||
|| LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD have mercy!
||
|| If the "DBA union" develops in the same unenlightened, dysfunctional
|| context (large amounts of pointless/unproductive tribalistic
|| squabbling & bickering over trivial b.s., etc.) as have events on
|| hazyDBA, I'm sure it will be a huge success (sarcasm intended).
||
|| Even in the non-profit sector, people are expected to understand the
|| dynamics of managing the "organizational culture" of a group. There
|| has been a lot of research done on "computer mediated
|| communication",
|| "communities of practice", the inherent capacity of people to become
|| "self-learning/self-aware" outside the realms of narrow minded, self-
|| serving corporate/bureaucratic "expertise" and so forth. As far as I
|| can tell, hazyDBA doesn't seem to be organized around any coherent
|| conciousness paradigm (business model) of that sort. As such, any
|| attempt to push the "organizational" boundries of hazyDBA's culture
|| any further doesn't seem very promising.

|| btw, the direct link doesn't work. You have to start at the main
|| page: http://www.lazydba.com, and click on the "discuss" link undre
|| the following heading (on the left just under the green banner):
||
||        "Followup to last
||         week's forum
||         This is a followup
||         to last weeks forum.
||         Discuss"
||
|| Apparently "last week's forum" refers to the next heading down which
|| is titled:
||
||        "Is Henry awful
||         or not?
||         This section is to
||         discuss the recent
|| events on the list. Is
||         Henry Awful or
||         not?"
