Rachel,
I would never, *ever* consider putting a design together without including a
DBA, that's suicidal! I can design a database, tables, constraints, triggers
etc, etc..but I always turn to the people that know in order to get accurate
sizings etc for growth as well as giving any desgins the once-over.
Ultimately I can't build an application without a decent back end and that's
were you guys come in ;-)

Kevin,

I programmed for 15 years before becoming a DBA 10 years ago. I may not be
able to program in the current toolset (but that's just learning curve
time). But I can for sure design an application that WORKS.

Just ask my developers (note spelling please). They've finally come to the
conclusion that it saves time to include me in the design phase of new
projects. And not just for help in designing tables. Hm, I see a possible
career change again for me.

Rachel
