I tried that...didn't fix the problem. The service actually starts without any problems, but for some reason, starting the service doesn't actually start the database. I have to actually login to SQL*Plus in /nolog mode, connect / as sysdba and then do a startup manually to get the database running. Thanks though.

You should go into services and OracleService<SID> ---> Properties. In the Log On tab go and choose log on as this account and choose your username and password that you are connecting to the domain. Stop and restart the service, and check that the memory is reserved for the instance. Regards Theodoros -----Original Message----- [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2002 8:22 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L I upgraded a database yesterday from 9i R1 (9.0.1) to 9i R2 (9.2.0.1.0), and am now having problems with the database starting up automatically on system reboot. This is on a Windows 2000 Pro machine. The error that I get when I try to connect with SQL*Plus is "ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist". If I run SQL*Plus with the /nolog option, connect / as sysdba, and startup manually, everything works fine. Anyone have any idea why it won't startup automatically, or what I could try to get it to? Thanks. _YEX_ /* || Robert D.
