I absolutely am NOT saying that anyone with an OCP is incompetant, a bad person, or any other such thing. Some of the best DBAs I've known were OCP. Some weren't. Some of the very worst DBAs I've known were OCP. Some weren't.
I simply think that its main value (other than the totally artifical value of being a common checklist item for hiring authorities now) is to get people to study, learn, and try things out. However, those things don't really require a certificate, ILT classes, or checks made out to Oracle. I agree that this thread is worn out.
