copy has been around for a loooong time
from the 8.1.7 docs

COPY {FROM database | TO database | FROM database TO database}
            {APPEND|CREATE|INSERT|REPLACE} destination_table
            [(column, column, column, ...)] USING query

and the example

SQL> COPY FROM SCOTT/TIGER@HQ -
> CREATE SALESMEN (EMPNO,SALESMAN) -
> USING SELECT EMPNO, ENAME FROM EMP -
> WHERE JOB='SALESMAN'

if you are copying within the same database you can leave out the
from/to clause. If you are logged onto one of the two databases, you
can leave out the from or to clause
