Yep, MKS is basically a bunch of unix shell tools
for windows, like cygwin32, but you have to pay for it.
Very correct recommendation about setting paths
short, I ran into some bugs & problems with 11.5.4 few years ago, when path
was too long (>1024 bytes) in windows and some scripts failed to
run...
But on Unixes, nothing extra (except JDK) has to be
installed.
