*Title: Mainframe Engineer Location: Cary, NC or Merrimack, NH Duration: 6+ months contract* This role of this position is to create or enhance complex CICS infrastructure software and requires skills beyond traditional application development. Our group is seeking a senior level mainframe engineer/developer to provide expert knowledge in mainframe technologies for software development. Emphasis of the position is be a senior level contributor in several key technologies The candidate is expected to perform tasks such as; analysis of current and future application and infrastructure requirements, coding and testing of mainframe software components, vendor software evaluation, design consulting and significant performance engineering and testing. The successful candidate must be able to develop scalable and creative technical solutions in close collaboration with application and architecture teams. Working with a geographically dispersed team, this individual will complete software development projects by the agreed upon target date with the highest level of quality, using appropriate development methodologies. The selected candidate MUST possess the following skills: • 10 or more years of in-depth hands-on CICS technical experience • Expert level programming in Command-level CICS and COBOL • Demonstrated achievements in CICS internals; CSD configurations and utilities, SYSPLEX configurations, Coupling Facility, Dynamic Transaction Routing and/or CICS Workload Management • Mastery of in-depth VSAM technical (share options, catalog management, CA/CI performance optimization) expertise Should have some moderate-to-deep experience in MQ Series on z/OS (Clusters, Shared Queue Groups, Performance tuning, and integration with non-mainframe Queue Managers) Strong self starting skills Strong analytical skills Strong written and oral communication skills Optional, but nice to have: Programming experience with CICS Data-Spaces (UMT / CMT) or MVS Dataspaces *** Experience or demonstrable knowledge in replication technologies (QREP or RRDF) is a major plus. Additional understanding or experience using RLS, CAFC, and VSHARE with VSAM files is preferred.
