[Oralux] no speech after starting emacspeak w/ festival

I downloaded oralux 0.6 and I used it to boot a Dell 41000 a PIII/1Gh) with an integrated sound card. I get speech through the setup questions but if I select emacspeak with festival, it stops talking when the questions are done.

Actually, it doesn't matter which screen reader I select, they all stop talking. When I do a shutdown, festival starts talking again. It is as if speech is suspended while the screen reader is running.

Very strange.

I can use mbrola but it speaks in a very fast, high pitched voice.
