Ok, I guess you can try this to see if you can get your device fixed.  

mkfs -t msdos -c partition-name 

where partition-name is the name of the disk partition on which you
wish to put the file system, usually the beginning of the disk.  

This will make an ms-dos type file system, onto which you can place
the windows installation.  The -c option will check the device for bad
blocks and, prayerfully, not use them for creating the file system.  

When you have finished doing this, please write to me again to let me
