Ok, you need a fast connection either of these: The cable modem or the dsl system as provided by your telephone company. Slow speed systems such as 33.6 modems are not supported by freeworlddialup.com. They have no plan to support these, according to their information on the web site. I don't know why.
Yes, 33.6 modems will work, and I think that the standard configuration file that comes up when you start linphone for the first time should work, but you have to contact the other machine directly across the network. However, you can try out freeworlddialup.com with my linphonec configuration file. I will include it here. You can try it and see if linphonec will tell you that you have successfully registered on freeworlddialup.com. Please tell me if this works. I don't know what their problem is when it comes to supporting a wider range of connection speeds. I don't have the equipment here or I would do it for anyone who needs this kind of support. Hope this helps. -- Doug Smith: C.S.F.C. Computer Scientist For CHRIST!
