Hey there doug! Well, I finally realized I was looking for the
wrong name for the installer, and was able to make it work. Once I got
it working, I was able to take my old .emacs file and use that, so now
the sending works again. I would, however, like to be able to use
another server instead that requires authentication. Here's what I have
for my SMTP section; could you look at it and tell me what I need to do
to make authentication work? The commented lines were commented out
because I was getting "smtp protocol error" when I used them on my old
Oralux system.
(setq smtpmail-smtp-server "smtp.gci.net")
;(setq smtpmail-debug-info t)
;; (setq smtpmail-auth-login-username "[EMAIL PROTECTED]")
;;(setq smtpmail-smtp-service "smtp")
;; (setq smtpmail-auth-credentials '(("smtp.secureserver.net" "smtp" "username"
"pass")))
(setq smtpmail-local-domain "")
(load-library "smtpmail")
Also, there's no way to install the current oralux onto hdc1 then?
My hdc1 is a much larger hard drive than my wimpy hda1, and on hda1 the
system is moving rather sluggishly. Another thought, would it be
possible for me to use the home directory somehow from my old system as
the home directory for this one?
Thanks,
Terrence
