Hi, Laura

The reason in Japan the 11th nov is origami day is mainly a visual idea.

11-11 could be express thinking in the sides of a square. So one 11 are
left and right sides. The other 11 are up and down sides.

All together is the symbol of the paper square.

There s a second raison, japanese like to mention: 11-11 is also "day for
the peace". And is well known origami is also a peace symbol after sadako s
crane (and later Yoshizawa quote about hands making origami and peace).

Japanese have funny ways to connect dates and tributes, depending on sounds
or visuals. There are more exemples, like cat day etcètera.

O.
