The mini PXE image is actually a good idea. I have on my side a basic mechanism that can return hardware information but the nodes need to be already deployed (OSCAR::SystemInfo) and i still need to polish it. If you are using OSCAR-6.x, you can give it a try running /usr/share/oscar/testing/unit_testing/test_systeminfo, it will give you the local hardware details.
About the IB simulator, i have to admit i do not know anything about it, that may be a solution. I will try to have a look at it. ----- Mail Original ----- De: "Chuck Ritter" <[email protected]> À: [email protected] Envoyé: Mercredi 11 Février 2009 13:48:22 GMT -05:00 USA/Canada - États de l'Est Objet: Re: [Oscar-devel] Fwd: Google Summer of Code 2009 FAQs Published Another thing that would be nice to have is a mini PXE image that returned hardware information (useful for presenting configuration options). systemimager sort of has one already, but it does not return enough hardware information in situ. As for IB hardware... another option might be the IB simulator in OFED... ibmgtsim?? I've poked at it, but have not really used it. I'm not sure if it could be made to simulate a cluster in the context we would need.
