Hi Carlos:

Your files all look fine (menu.1st, grub.conf) so I am at a loss regarding what's wrong.  Perhaps you can try googling for the kernel panic error messages to see if anything comes up.

One thing Andrea suggested though, is taking a look at your image's /etc/systemimager/autoinstallscript.conf and checking to see if there's anything strange.

Regarding the /etc/fstab message, that is a known issue - take a look at the release notes - those can be safely ignored.

Cheers,

Bernard

Hi, Bernard,

I have already tested oscar4.2.1r4779-20060513 + systemimager 3.6.3, and oscar 5, and exactly the same problem arose, 'kernel panic' when booting the node. Not sure what to do next...
I also tried a new node (without raid, exactly the same hardware) as a server, and the same behaviour occurs.

I attach some logs when the image is created, telling that he can't open /etc/fstab when it is there and has reading permisions.

Thanks,
Carlos

Can you check the file /boot/grub/menu.lst on the resulting node?  I suspect it is not complete...

But unfortunately, I am not sure what is wrong...  Perhaps you can put a post-install script in /var/lib/systemimager/scripts/post-install to fix grub up after imaging, that would be my suggestion.

Cheers,

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

Here is attached si.log from the node. I also attach a ide.disk like the
one we used.

Systemconfigurator version is 2.2.2-11ef, we are not using a raid in the
nodes (only 1 disk, and no need of space on the nodes).

The output of the node installation reads like:

mv: cannot stat '/boot/grub/device.map': No such file or directory.
Probing devices to gues BIOS drives. This may take a long time.

end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0

(14 times this line, carlos add.)

Installation finished. No error reported.

This is the contents of the device map /boot/grub/device.map
Check if this is correct and fix it and rerun the script grub-install.

(fd0) /dev/floppy/0
(hd0) /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc

use of unnitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/lib/systemconfig/Boot/Grub.pm line 315

run post_install_scripts

And thats all, apart from the beeps...

If there is any log that I am missing, please, tell me.

Carlos
