The "hack" of creating /var/lib/systemimager/images/{image_name}/var/lock/rpm/
before building the image worked (as sited here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg05938.html).
My default package list image is currently building. Assuming success, I will
return to my efforts to figure out why it claims to not find 2 of the packages
I have added to the list.

Using a the sample rhel 4 for ia64 package list got past the step that was
bailing on me, and then I ran into the RPM lock issue. Apparently an upgrade
of RPM is necessary, based on the list archives, so I will try to do that and
try again.

Hi Michael,
I saw those docs when I was reading, and made sure that I installed the ia32el
package on the head node, and that it is present in /tftpboot/rpm. I had the
same thought about trying to build an image without my extra packages, and am
off to try that now.
