I cant find anything saying so, but naming the external interface the same
as the internal domain seems like a bad idea to me.

The domain names shouldn't be an issue, but at least try doing a full
domain. Again, it shouldn't matter, but I vaguely recall having problems
doing it with just a one part domain name.

The main thing is to be sure that the name that comes up with "hostname" is
on the public interface.

Just for kicks try this instead (don't forget to copy it to your node as
well):

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.1.254 snode0.oscardomain.za snode0 oscar_server nfs_oscar pbs_oscar
137.215.104.218 gnlserv01.up.ac.za gnlserv01

# These entries are managed by SIS, please don't modify them.
192.168.1.1 normnode01.oscardomain.za normnode01

Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are
powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. Quickly and
easily build your RIAs with Flex Builder, the Eclipse(TM)based development
software that enables intelligent coding and step-through debugging.
