Not having the conf in an expensive hotel downtown should already save shitloads of money and cut out a lot of the "wrong" audience. Then, finding companies to do small sponsorships should not be too hard. If I'm still around when the time comes closer next year, our startup tribily (http://tribily.com) will definitely be interested in providing some no strings-attached sponsorship (don't have super-large budgets though, but all bits help, right?). I believe that these kinds of events should be free from companies trying to push their agenda. It's about the geeks and the knowledge-sharing. If you want marketing-opportunities, go somewhere else :)
