The bank tend to use the Z series as something like a Big Database, the thinking tend to be very different. As the system is optimized for batch processing, and it used to be it need a bridge to support tcp/ip not quite sure if it still need it. and one more interesting is, they have hardware supported IO, so it is very optimized for that too.
