This information is not widely known. In fact I never saw any informations about that. Autodesk said that they will keep both products, since they are both major players in the industry.
They are doing too much money from max to cut it, even in two year. I may be wrong, but I never saw any informations about that. If there was any leaks, major 3D forum like cgtalk would have infos about it. Any link or infos to support that?
