However, things like, integrating with the window manager, are all really os-specific. OS/X and windows are a lot easier there because you can perfectly rely on certain libraries being always there, whereas with linux.. you never know what you can expect.. I read about similar issues porting the flashplayer.. loads of problems because they didn't know which sound driver would be installed, which window manager, etc etc..
