I'm in that boat. I have completely switched off most proprietary software even on Windows XP at work (including switching to OpenOffice), because that proprietary software simply doesn't offer any value over the open source stuff.
Adobe's software actually offers enough value, that a switch off of that software is unfathmable. It is to the point that the only reason I stay on Windows is because of the Adobe software (and an occasional game, but that's getting better on Ubuntu too). At home I have been using Ubuntu almost exclusively for a long while now. It's too bad I can't get the most recent Adobe stuff to work on Ubuntu (it's actually too hard to get the version 8 Macromedia stuff to work too, even though it is possible), or I'd switch immediately.
