or if you prefer to use gedit (now days I do, but I haven't updated
the howto yet) then there is this plugin
(https://code.launchpad.net/vigedit) that makes gedit behaviour
similar to gvim.

it's very possible to develop flex applications in linux, but for the
flas, then you need the adobe flash ide, theres no way around that

(unless you can get it working through wine

though  judging by that page your chances are small.....
Though Flash 8 works in wine, but it's very slow once you get a
sizeable amount of elements on the stage)
