Had some issues with this aswell.
In this situation it was a pc setup in a store.. so we could use a usb
phonehead for it.
You could also look into logiteck or phillips cam's.. they have echo reduction
build in the driver. (if you have a standard pc setup you can customise
offcourse).

Have found some hardware in the search then.. that could solve it.. but that's
expensive and for big ones, like skype, to use.

Good luck and let us know if you find something.

I am using Speex. I am running the latest version of Red5, but I did not
build it custom. Muting the speakers stops the loop.

I'm curious as to why you're asking if I am using a custom build of Red5...
Does that mean that there is a server component I'm missing?

I want you to try something, get a loop going then just mute your speakers
for a second and see if that stops the loop. Don't mute the mic.

      Jonathan,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried this. Yes it makes it
better, but it can still happen and is still definitely anoying. We've tested
Skype and Google Talk under identical conditions and they don't echo like our
flash-based client.

turn down your speaker volume. you can get the same issue in skype if
both computers are using speakers and they're loud.

          Hello,

I'm trying to develop a video chat program using flex and Red5.
However, I'm getting a really bad voice echo. It's bad enough that you can
actually create a positive feedback loop what won't stop until you mute the
mics.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

I'm using the Speex codec, turning off the mic loop back, and turning
on the "Use Echo Suppression". I have also turned off the buffering for the
NetStreams involved. Is there something I'm missing? Does this problem
require some sort of server component?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
