Thanks Dennis for the advice. I will try joining the google group and see if I
can make some headway. Unfortunately you cannot embed an IceCast AACplus stream
in a Flash player due to several reasons. Hence the reason I was looking into
some RTMP servers. Xuggler looks like an interesting solutions. I will also
take a look at that.

Subject: Re: [osflash] Relaying an Internet Radio Stream through Red5 to a
Flash Player

Hi Brian,

That's great that you decided to settle for red5.
You can ask your question at http://groups.google.com/group/red5interest, which
is where most people familiar with red5 hang out.

If you're trying to stream from IceCast to red5, you'll also need to support
RTMP on the IceCast side (I assume IceCast doesn't support it, since in that
case you'd just be using IceCast to stream directly to Flash). In this case,
you might also want to take a look at Xuggler (http://www.xuggle.com/xuggler/),
which can re-encode your stream to a flash friendly format and stream it to
red5 using RTMP.

Hi,
I have an online Radio station with a stream encoded in AACPlus format and
being streamed from an IceCast server. Now I wish to build a Flash player that
embeds this stream with some basic functionality(start stop, volume, basic
metadata of currently playing song etc). I made to understand, that I can
achieve this with my current setup. Through the little research I have done, I
have learnt that I need to relay my IceCast stream to a Flash RTMP server (like
Flash Media Server, Wowza or Red5). Now I am working on a small budget here, so
I settled for Red5.

So here is my predicament, I am a total newbie to this. I am a decent
Actionscript programmer, but have absolutely no idea how to relay my stream
from IceCast to Red5, and then how to embed the stream from Red5 into a Flash
player. I have managed to install and get my Red 5 running. I have tried
searching online for some tutorials without success. So in a word; HELP!

Could anyone out there point me in the right direction? Are there any good
tutorials out there. How can I best achieve my objective of building a Flash
player that uses a relay stream from Red5? How do I point the Icecast stream to
Red5? I would really appreciate any help you guys can provide.

Thanks in advance,B
