I hate crashes like this, you do something that you think should fix, and you try to recreate the crash but can't, does it mean its actually fixed.... or just got lucky and not hit the memory error/race condition. I don't know enough about you app itself to recommend much more, bugs are hard to diagnose remotely, ones that are sporadic and take a long time to reproduce are next to impossible.
