Hi Neil,

I don't recall any additions to detect degenerate triangles. Its been
over a year since 1.0 though, so perhaps one of the the many hundreds
of submissions did add something.

Perhaps more likely is that is a memory error that my linux build gets
away with while your build doesn't.

One way to find out is to check out the SVN version of the OSG and
test it against your models. Note that the SVN version of the 3ds
plugin comments out the tristripping so you'd need to re-enable this.

Hi Robert,

You mentioned that the models all loaded fine for yourself. Has anything
changed between osg1.0 and the SVN version in regards to the detection of
degenerate triangles ? The reason I ask is that I think - though can be certain
yet - that the models have some degeneracies embedded in them. I'm currently
hacking strip to put in some testing for degeneracy, and found a cryptic
comment regarding degenerate triangles pointing to themselves. This is
essentially what I was seeing in the hang. So if your version loads the model,
and mine doesn't, then is it safe to assume that the problem has been fixed in
later versions of utils ?
