Commonwealth allies conduct anti-terror drill in South China Sea
The armed forces of Australia, Britain, Malaysia, New Zealand and
Singapore have staged an anti-terror drill in the South China Sea to
prepare for potential threats in the region's waters.
Joint teams from member countries of the the Five Power Defence
Arrangement (FPDA) tracked, intercepted and boarded a "rogue" ship
after receiving an intelligence report that it was carrying illegal cargo.
Officials say it is the first time in the FPDA's history that an
anti-terror drill has been incorporated in the annual exercises.
More than 3,500 personnel, 31 ships, 60 aircraft and two submarines
are involved in the drills.
