Turkey Eyes Free Trade Agreement With Gulf Co-operation Council
31/05/2005 ANKARA, Turkey -- Turkey signed an agreement with the six-nation Gulf Co-operation Council Monday (30 May) to launch talks on a Free Trade Agreement. The deal is aimed at boosting economic ties between Turkey and the Council, which is comprised of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It may take a year for the completion of talks. In other news, a bomb blast damaged an oil pipeline belonging to Turkey's state-owned company TPAO in the Batman province. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, which caused no injuries. Firefighters quickly put out the blaze.
