Subject: CAIR Internships...

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is the largest non-profit
civil rights organization in the United States dedicated to empowering the
Muslim community in America through political and social activism.

Benefits of interning with CAIR-NY:

* Networking opportunities with community leaders, other NGOs, and
local government officials.

* Experience in non-profit and civil rights advocacy.

* Personal one-on-one attention. As an intern at CAIR you are a member
of the staff and work directly with other staff members on daily projects.
All efforts will be made to accommodate your skills and interests.

*       Flexible schedule.

*       College credit.

Civil Rights Internships: Responsibilities include assisting the Civil
Rights Coordinator in every day functions such as contacting individuals
with civil rights cases, communicating with relevant parties, civil rights
research and development, data entry and filing. An interest in law and
civil rights is recommended. Preference will be given to law school
students.

Public Relations/Marketing Internships: Will assist CAIR-NY staff in
conducting media outreach, writing press releases and media advisories,
contacting reporters, and conducting workshops on media/outreach. Also
develop and conduct marketing campaigns for CAIR events.

Business Internships: Will assist the executive director in the development
of a new CAIR-NY initiative, the Muslim Business Network. Interns will
interview business owners, hold workshops on business issues and practices,
and liaison with business executives.

Project-based Internships: Intended for graduate students and career
professionals that are interested in performing more in depth examinations
into the issues facing the American-Muslim community. Interns will propose
five topics of interest. CAIR-NY and the Intern will agree on one topic and
a 1-3 page proposal paper will be submitted. CAIR-NY will work closely with
the intern to achieve the objectives outlined.

Outreach Internships: Accompany the executive director on visits to various
community leaders and write articles about those leaders, their
organizations, and their communities.

Internet-based Internships: Offered to students and professionals around the
world. Working from their own computers, interns submit specific research
projects and/or articles for CAIR-NY's magazine.
