Korean soldiers likely to arrive in Lebanon in summer SEOUL, Jan. 31 (Yonhap) -- About 350 South Korean troops will likely arrive in southern Lebanon this summer as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission to the war-torn region where Israeli and Hezbollah forces fought fiercely last summer, defense officials said Wednesday. The current June or July target is a few months behind the original schedule, Maj. Gen. Park Jung-i, head of the tactical operations bureau at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a news conference. "More time is needed to select the base site and construction of facilities." South Korea has already received U.N. approval for its planned troop dispatch to a southern Lebanese area near the border with Israel. +++ -------------------------- Want to discuss this topic?
