TUNISIA: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the
Qatari and Sudanese interior ministries on the sidelines of the Arab
interior ministers meeting here.
The memorandum was signed for Qatar by Minister of State for Interior
Affairs and Cabinet member HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasir bin Khalifa
al-Thani and for Sudan by Interior Minister al-Zubair Bashir Taha.
The MoU aims at enhancing co-operation in training and co-ordination and
exchange of security expertise.
The signing ceremony was attended by Qatari Ambassador to Tunisia Saad
bin Nasir al-Humaidi and the delegation accompanying the minister of
state for interior affairs.
In a statement, the Sudanese minister expressed pleasure over the
signing of the MoU, noting that co-operation between Qatar and Sudan has
not been confined to security but covered many fields.
l The interior ministers’ meeting which opened yesterday heard calls for
Arab states to fight terrorism by measures such as prisoner transfers
and crackdowns on funding for terrorist groups.
Mohamed Ali Kuman, the Saudi secretary general of the Arab League’s
council of interior ministers, denounced “those who act under the cover
of religion” in committing terrorist acts. - Agencies
