According to ABC News, officials believe terrorist are in the advanced planning stages of for an attack on U.S. military personnel and on tourists in Germany <file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Microsoft%20Shared/Stationery/#> . However, U.S. and German officials said there were no new threats beyond the official State Department <file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Microsoft%20Shared/Stationery/#> warning on April 20. The warning issued by the U.S. embassy <file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Microsoft%20Shared/Stationery/#> in Germany said that Americans in the country should increase their personal security. "There is nothing new," a spokesman for the German Interior Ministry said to Reuters. "What we're looking at is the state of affairs that has been long since known. This caused the U.S. authorities to publish a warning to their own citizens in Germany." U.S. officials spoke to Reuters anonymously since information has been classified. They believe Kurdish Islamist believed to be affililiated with al Qaeda <file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Microsoft%20Shared/Stationery/#> from outside Germany. "There is intelligence reporting suggesting there is a group interested in staging an attack, potentially in Germany," the official said.
