david, thanks for this message. i am very eager to become more involved in this conversation. as many of you know, i am working on having one or more haitians accompany me to the osonos in vancouver. this is another way to spread os by making it possible for practitioners who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it, to come to this powerful gathering.
one of my objectives in having my haitian colleagues come to the osonos is for them to be more active with me in conceptualizing and then carrying out a plan which makes regular and ongoing training in os a possibility for as many haitians who are interested. as you may recall, we have been working with haitian educators for several years in developing training and materials for a particular teaching methodology. for us, it was very important that we would develop a pedagogy for teaching a pedagogy that was grounded in the haitian reality. thus, we knew that we would not be able to fly some experts in, have some training seminars and then leave. even though i've lived in haiti for 7 years, i don't think its healthy for me to be the lead instigator in developing os training and materials (which will need to be in haitian creole) for haiti. rather, my strategy is to continue to bring my haitian colleagues along with me (two have experience in leading os events) and, when the time is right and they have an equal investment, to launch some more systematic training efforts. ...so, anyone who can help with the costs of bringing a couple of haitians to the osonos in vancouver, i'd love to hear from you. again david, thanks to you and the others involved who are interested and who are investing time and energy on this issue of training accessibility. john port au prince haiti _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com * * ========================================================== osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu Visit: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html =========================================================== osl...@egroups.com To subscribe, 1.
