Dear Julie, you know about my insistence on having a planning group getting some understanding on outcome, theme and mix of participants. But when its up to you I guess you face the same questions. Could one solution be not to find a theme andn to give that task back to the participants with the question "What is our theme today?" ? Could another be to ask, well, if I am pulled .....why not have it then "Core beliefs that guide our action". When you have the questions about children and education in your theme how will you face the dilemma that you have neither children nor the education(al system) in the room on that weekend you are planning? Since you are adressing some pretty basic questions that people have been adressing for some centuries you might also consider sleeping in this weekend and await a more auspicious time. greetings from Berlin michael > >I'm getting ready for another open space with teachers next Saturday. >We ran out of time last week and forgot to define a theme for this week. >So now it's up to me. In pondering and reading this weekend, I thought >about defining the theme like this: "What do I believe about children? >What do I believe about education? What do I believe about educating >children?" I'm pulled toward inviting discussion about the core beliefs >that guide our actions.
