Dear Funda, Nr.91 is one of 6 open space events that have been organized once a year over the last 5 years by a political foundation (Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, they have offices also in Turkey, I am sure...as do other political foundations, such as Heinrich Boell which is close to the green party while Friedrich Ebert is close to the Social Democrats). The main theme is "Youth in violence-free space" and has a different subtitle each year, the one for 2004 which just took place (115, no pictures yet) had the subtitle "bullying in schools and neighborhood...we are active against it"....the one last year had the subtitle "A rainbow needs all colors - more transcultural collaboration as a chance for the schools in our city" (Nr.106) ...there are some pictures there. Applications for these events are between 350 and 500 a year, the space is really booked out with 350...thats how many we had this year...half adults (teachers, police, social workers, scientists, mediators, conflict specialists, politicians, neighborhood organisations......)and the other half school children aged 10 through 16.
Nr. 96 was an event organized by the Catholic Dioces of Augsburg...there are two sets of pictures. "Veranstaltung" means pictures of the event itself with 200 youth workers, including priests, nuns, social workers, Deacons, parish consultants, educators...and a few youth. All catholic except for one 16 year old student who came up to me and in a low voice said to me (I had outed myself as a protestant): "I sneaked into here as a protestant, only my best friends know". The second set of pictures "Nachtreffen" shows pictures from a follow up meeting 8 months later with some 50 participants reflecting on what had happened in the meantime and planning further action. By the way, the picture of the circles of chairs (200 of them) that you see there went onto the cover of an open space article my colleague Jo Toepfer wrote for the Leadership Handbook of the German Red Cross. You can have a look at it at http://www.joconsult.de/os/was/Augen_auf.html there you can see the text. If you click on "hier" at the uppermost item at the menu at right, the article comes up and you can download it as pdf. Of course, its in German.
