What the bleep is definitely a 'commercially made film'. The makers have an agenda, to be sure, but the people behind the film are film industry professionals. The marketing for this film, which is not backed by a studio and does not have normal film industry distributorship, is very savvy, effective marketing.
I heard about this film on this list back in the spring. It started showing in Seattle in the late spring and I saw it right away. I am happy to see the ideas in the film getting out into the world but there was nothing in the film that was new to me. I don't claim, of course, to have advanced knowledge of quantum physics but I've actually read a few books about the new physics. This film actually made me uneasy. After seeing it, I did a bit of research and it turns out that the people behind the film are all very serious devotes of JD Knight, who channels an ancient spirit called Ramtha. JD Knight was a strong presence in the film, too. I concluded, and this is my idiosyncratic, unprofessional and nonquantifiable opinion, that the film is actually JD Knight/Ramtha propaganda carefully spun with new physics; that the film is really about proselytizing JD Knight's ideas. Is there something wrong with proselytizing JD Knight's ideas? No, not to me. I believe the people behind the film really do want to get out new ways of viewing reality. I believe the science presented in the film has support from experts like the people in the film. I even can accept that a woman named JD Knight channels beings from other realms of reality. But there is something about hidden agendas that always leave me uneasy. I am made even uneasier when people think the film is 'not commercial'. The people who made this movie intend for it to make money. . . isn't that commercial? Just thinking aloud. If you read my thoughts and are irritated, I don't exepct anyone to agree with me. I didn't mention the film on this list after I saw it because of my uneasiness but now that it has popped up again, I felt like I had to share my thoughts. >From: Joelle Lyons Everett <jleshel...@aol.com> >Reply-To: OSLIST <osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu> >To: osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu >Subject: Re: What the Bleep...? >Date: Mon, 20 Sep 2004 14:18:17 EDT > >Marei-- > >" >What the Bleep. . ." is not a commercially made film.
