Hi Raffi and all, I'm not sure how pure the Open Space was for the NVC training I spoke of, but it sounded pretty satisfying and open to me, as far as I heard.
My thanking of heaven for the "not-quite-peaceful' etc was because I can find unadulterated positivity and perfect peace a little irksome. I am pleased enough to think it is a genetic aberration in me, though I know of others with a similar tendency. And I don't regret this in any of us. For one thing, I rarely know whether something is positive, peaceful etc until well after it has happened. An example: At the start of May, I discovered I have big-time cancer. All the medical stuff I thought I'd hate (like tests, chemo and radiotherapy and surgery) were just fine and left me feeling quite bonny. My relationship with my husband Jim (which was fine before my diagnosis) is now flourishing. Yet a simple removal of a drain tube, that I was quite looking forward to, so I could leave hospital, traumatised and literally nearly killed me. How is it possible to tell what is "good" and what is "bad"? Besides, I don't want to limit my life to thinking the "right" type of thoughts - that might make me too guarded. That demonstrates one of my dogmatic moments. I do like to be respectful of myself and other folks, critters and so on. And sometimes I catch myself being careless and try to notice and attend to that. This explains sort of what I meant by my thanking of heaven for feelings and actions that sometimes rumple the space we are in. It was a relief to see you say that you can be a "wee bit dogmatic" because I have admired your writing and wise thoughts on the list.
