Because you are describing row emotions (anxiety? Confusing? Rage? ????) If it
is possible I would choose to meet with few more people just to have a better
sense of what is going on, be more grounded and sense more clearly what is
needed and what are the relationships.

As for the story telling I had a wide invitation in mind (not an AI
one)something like : “as a way of bringing yourself, bringing your voice to
here. As a way of making room for this process of… (the question of the ost)
let us start with a story telling circle. We are calling for stories that you
feel moved to tell, stories that want to be told. Sad stories and glad
stories, funny stories and mad stories…. All are invited and welcome to show up
and be heard and stay with us as a rich and fertile ground “ or something J

The point I am trying to make is to invite with patience , with vast time and
space (it may take few hours) and it is best if it is an evening before the
OST with a talking stick and deep listening. This will also help you and all
that are there to recognize and appreciate the emotions, narratives and
motivations in the room

Hope it is helpful

Tova

Tova: thanks for your response. I like the story telling. What or how might the
story telling be framed? Possibly, tell a story when you exp. this
organization at best or .. . Thanks, Craig

One more thing you can consider , depending how much time you have , is to
start with stories that want to be told. Story telling session may open the
hearts, minds and flow of energy in what seems to be challenging post
traumatic/stuck (?) situation. It also gives voice to every individual and
creates common ground that is both complex and reach. If this session happened
to go well it has a profound healing effect.

Sounds like an important and meaningful pease of work that is ahead

i'm always partial to harrison's "issues and opportunities" phrasing,
craig. i always hear "how" questions as yes-no's in disguise. (i
think we tend to hear them not in the detail that gives rise to good
conversations, but as "do you know how to...?"

so i default to something like:

what are the issues and opportunities for getting past, getting going,
and creating a future we all want to be part of?

my first, fast take on it, anyway.

good luck! m

Last minute, I was asked by the leader to come into an organization that is

suffering some difficult decisions, consequences of decisions and trauma.

They are described as angry, hurt, frustrated, feeling helpless, etc. . .

an amalgamation of emotions.

As the leader and I spoke, I realized, this is ripe for open space

conversation or some hybrid thereof. But there is not time or context for a

committee to develop the question. Consequently, I asked the leader for a

question that would frame the conversation.

HIs goal is to help him and the group get some handles so they can move

forward. There will be 50 to 60 people present. They are invited to

engage--

The questions he offered were something like: (He qualified it with, "I am

not certain how to get it down to one question, but let's talk about it.)

Morale and vision:

· How do we let go of the hurts of the past?

· Where are we going?

· What can we expect in the future?

What question do you hear or comes to your mind from these that might help

invite and create space for this conversation? (The way the previous

questions are framed, to me, they feel like they are pointing in the wrong

direction.)

Would the following question be to broad?

Morale and vision:

To move into your future in a positive way, what conversations will be most

helpful to you?

Thanks,

Craig
