Have you tried the Tiramisu 3 style/rendertheme? I use it in the "Cartograph 2 Maps" app (as well as Elevate and Voluntary) The "Cartograph 2 Lite" map viewer is free enabling you to evaluate the paid version and the appearance of those styles/renderthemes which may also be available in OsmAnd.
