This is where I get confused. I think, if we take parties out of the discussion, we agree on a lot of points. But then you go and say this - and I'm wondering where the outrage was the last 8 years? Don't you consider running up massive deficits to be looting? Don't you consider huge trade imbalances to be looting? How about those small-government Republicans, how's that working? I'm not letting the Democrats off the hook, but if I were to give any benefit of the doubt on economic issues to either party today, it wouldn't be the GOP. As for the current situation, if you mean the "stimulus" or "bailout" or whatever the term-du-jour is, I see it as an honest, well-meaning response to the massive problems we're facing. Is it the *right* response? I really have no idea - I'm not convinced things *can* be fixed through more manipulation, but I'm also not keen on seeing what's left of the middle class destroyed, and that's clearly what's happening. I'm stumped what to do, but I know whose economic ideology not to follow. Frankly, until Obama took office it seemed like a massive stimulus was fairly popular in political circles of all stripes (and far less popular with the general man on the street) - the main debates being who gets to cash the check, not the size (or existence) of the check itself. _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
