I'm not at all surprised that you agree, Chuck. My point was that the Republicans have taken a position, let's give money to very wealthy business failures with no strings, with which *no* reasonable person will agree. Of course I have long considered the repubs to be the party of wealth and privilege. They try to cover it up with some rather cheesy theatre, Joe the Plumber, Bush as a cowboy in Crawford, and appear as the party of entrepreneurs, but this financial crisis has forced them to reveal their true colors. I think the repubs may get away with the subterfuge again after awhile though because they have a couple of very powerful things going for them. 1) The MSM loves the 'Party of Horatio Alger' narrative which is much more compelling than the 'American Tories' narrative even if the latter is much closer to the truth. 2) Many of the dems are themselves members or servants of the privileged class. -- In America, anybody can be president. That's one of the risks you take. -Adlai Stevenson, statesman (1900-1965) _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
