It is a fantastic rant, isn't it? And I have felt that way
myself for ages -- there are amazing cool new things that I find out
about every week, and yet so many people just complain about it.
I have also found that my year spent living in the desert,
seeing how people live in the shameful third world conditions that so
many people endure out there, has changed my attitude a lot. I find
it hard to get unhappy about many sources of stress. Every time I
stress about not having money for some indulgence, or various bits of
undone stuff around the house, or whatever, I tend to think to myself
'hey, you have a house, abundant sources of varied food ridiculously
conveniently, adequate water, hygiene, clothing, good friends, and a
happy marriage. Plus an already vast pile of gadgets and media. Get
over yourself. Your life is great.'
I am beginning to think the most important source of
happiness is just getting a sense of perspective.
Cheers
David
