At first I thought the semi-bald bearded bloke was 'Primal' (Jim
Cramer) himself . . .

I have been working my way (somewhat slowly) through a book by Gregg
Easterbrook
on a similar theme. It's titled:

      'The Progress Paradox: How Life Gets Better While People Feel
Worse'

I think a lot of this problem might come from slanted news reporting.
Floods,
Fires, and Pestilences seem to get more press than good news . . .

When I hear people crying for the 'Good Old Days', I show them this
little
prose from the Assyrians viewpoint on the subject:

     Our Earth is degenerate in these latter days;
     Bribery and corruption are common;
     Children no longer obey their parents;
     Every man wants to write a book;
     And the end of the world is evidently approaching.

             ---- Assyrian Clay Tablet, circa 2800 BC

I think things have definitely improved over the the past 4,800 years
or so . . .

     Cheers,
         . . . . . . . .    Henry
