I did it! :-/ I think I borked my iPhone 3G (8GB). When I try to turn it on, I get what looks like horizontal lines flickering. Then I get a white screen. A couple of times I saw the Apple with (iirc) a '?' beneath it.
When I connect to my laptop (MacBook Pro 15" 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo, only original RAM and HD, no USB devices hooked up except my Apple keyboard (and I tried using just the laptop's built-in keyboard).... ....it says "An iPhone was found in recovery mode" and it asks if I want to restore/upgrade. I click "Restore" Then, after several minutes, I get:" "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1604)." There's a link for more info which takes you to a help page on Apple's site. There they suggest restarting the computer, restarting the iPhone, disconnecting external USB devices, changing cables. Been there, done that. No dice. I even zapped the PRAM on the laptop for good measure. Nada. Any ideas? Is there a way to force-reset the iPhone? Thanks for reading. I am grateful for any help you wizards might be able to provide.
