Hello All:

I have a question to pose to the group. First, I must make a couple of
assumptions:

1.. The profession of OT is in some danger of being absorbed by other
professions

2.. OT practitioners may or may not recognized this situation

3.. OT practitioners may or may not choose to act on the situation

IF one accepts all the above assumptions, what is the best way for
individual practitioners concerned about the loss of OT professional
identity to act? Seems like there are at least two (but not mutually
exclusive) approaches.

1. OT practitioners can increase their specialized knowledge base and
commitment to the practice of OT.

2. They can focus on educating other professions (i.e. PT) about our unique
contribution.

Does either approach seem more likely to generate results or do they both
have their merits and rank equally?

 Thanks,

Ron
