Before I was an occupational therapy student, I thought that occupational therapy focused on the UE functions. Now though the help of my professors, I  have learned that occupational therapy is about making sure that the individual is able to do those things they use to do prior to his or her illness or disablity. OTs do a varity of activities to help people to gain independence with ADLs such as dressing, feeding, functional mobility.OTs also help individuals to do things that they are interested in such as playing a sport, cooking, etc. Some people don't realize that in order to dress yourself and cook your favorite dish, you have to have more than UE functions.
