Hi Charles, You mention you're running Red Hat. On Red Hat, Fedora and CentOS boxes, we had an issue where mod_perl is loaded AFTER OTRS is started. This causes tools like Server Status or such to report that mod_perl is running, where actually OTRS can not benefit from it. This will be addressed in the RPM for upcoming OTRS 2.4.8.
/etc/httpd/conf.d/otrs.conf is loaded, but mod_perl (/etc/httpd/conf.d/perl.conf) is loaded later. The workaround is to rename /etc/httpd/conf.d/otrs.conf to /etc/httpd/conf.d/zzz_otrs.conf and restart your apache server.
