I did not use 4.11.rc7. My kernel of ubuntu17.04 is 4.10.0 . Can you share the build error log?
Even with your patch applied I still run into compilation errors on the 4.11.rc7 upstream kernel. Perhaps there is more to do. I'll get the Debian distro as well and look into a fix there. Thanks, - Greg
