That's indeed what the website says, but the 2417 is not even close to a replacement for the 2404. The 2404 was ideal for making slave devices - it consists of a shared scratch memory and parameter memory, with both a 1-wire and a i2c-like interface, independant operation of each interface (up to atomic operations), interrupt on change, a realtime clock and of course a unique ID. It was probably the crown jewels for 1-wire systems development. My wish list for a future system: 4 wires (pwr and differntial data) designed for use with cat5, integration with say PICs (replace 232 interface with a 1-wire like interface), master & slave system so that the microcontroller can make decisions about daisychained sensors, but these can be read into owfs just like hubs. njh ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
